FeaTURED STORY:
Extreme 'Makeover' at Oregon School for the Deaf
Salem, Oregon – MOVE THAT BUS! The signature moment of the reality
television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," was shouted in Salem, Oregon on Labor Day to benefit the state school for deaf students. About 1,000 local volunteers worked around the clock for seven days to build a new boys' dormitory and remodel the school's popular haunted house, The Nightmare Factory.
All labor and materials were donated for the project, which is estimated to have a price tag of more than $1 million. ASC Building Products donated the 2½" corrugated steel panels used on 90% the dorm's exterior and some accent points in the interior too.
The ScareFactory, a design and fabrication studio out of Ohio and the famed horror director Rob Zombie, created the schools haunted attractions and special effects using the latest and greatest technology and some of the coolest props in the industry.
